How can I achieve success in learning English? I’m sure some of you have asked this question before. Well, if you’re really serious about it, you have to be specific with your goals. Come up with a concrete study plan that you can follow and is achievable in the long run.
Begin by thinking of a specific goal that you want to reach by the end of the year. This can be an English exam that you want to pass successfully or the ability to communicate effectively with your English-speaking friends. From there, plan a series of actions which you need to take and distribute them per week or per month. Such examples may include enrolling in a course, using an English learning app, or engaging in activities that use English as a medium such as watching films or reading books. Make sure that you strictly follow your schedule. The time that you set for these activities should also be suited to your current condition and lifestyle.
Keep track of your progress by measuring how much you have improved. You can do this by taking progress tests in your course, asking a teacher to evaluate you, or (on your own) writing statements beginning with «I can...» For example, «I can now use the present perfect to talk about my experiences.» To make sure you stay motivated, reward yourself from time to time for the progress that you have made along the way. This will surely give you a sense of satisfaction and will keep you moving towards your end goal.
