Every day is one day closer to landing in Russia. I am so excited to finally see it for myself! But with that excitement comes some pressure. I really need to make learning the Russian language a priority in my everyday life. I want to be able to communicate with locals when I come to Russia. I don't want to feel like a confused tourist.
I have very little time to learn a language quite unlike English. So, I have been using a unique method of language learning which allows you to easily learn over twenty new words a day. It's called The Association Method. Basically, you take a word in the foreign language you are learning and relate it to a word you already know. Then, you create a story around the words.
Let's use a Russian word I recently learned as an example. Yesterday, I learned the word «Куртка». The Russian word «Куртка» sounds like the English word «Court». So, I imagine myself on trial for stealing a jacket. Now, when I search my mind for the Russian word for «Jacket», I will think about being in court for stealing a jacket. In court. Куртка!
This method has helped me learn Russian vocabulary at such a fast rate! Which is good, because not much time is left before I land in Novosibirsk. I can't wait to see you then!
