Sometimes the trickiest thing about speaking a new language isn’t the language itself, but how you formulate it.
If you think up something in your native language and then attempt to convert it to English, you’ll always be trapped between two languages. Translating is extra work. Even those fluent in several languages find it hard to switch between languages.
Why not start thinking in English? In any place, at any time, think in English. When you’re travelling home from work, cooking dinner, or reflecting about your day, try to think how to say things in English. If you can, use an English language dictionary to learn new words. That way you’ll use your native language less and spend less time translating words. You’ll begin to see that, thinking in English, it’s easier for you to communicate in English.
