Many people throughout the world think that the United States is a “land flowing with milk and honey“, or even a place where the “streets are paved with gold.“ While these are simply figures of speech, there is certainly a commonly held belief that there is something special about the U.S. and the so-called American dream in this “land of opportunity.“
But is this “American Dream“ uniquely American? Or, is the American Dream possible in countries such as Russia, China, Mexico or Iran? What makes this ideal possible? If we are to take his statement at face value, the only truly «American» part of this vision, is that the social order has been long established, and is being consistently updated so that all peoples can achieve what it is they desire. Therefore, this dream is not actually “American“ in that it is for Americans only, or for those who reside within her borders. Moreover, it is true that no matter the country, most people have particular goals in mind for their lives and the lives of their progeny.
So there is good news my comrades. This dream too can be yours! So long as you live in such a place as supportive, welcoming and free as you find within the United States. I hope you are able to do so no matter where you live. Now, go out and achieve your dreams today!
