I’ve been going to a personal trainer lately, and I have been studying gym-related vocabulary to communicate better with my trainer. Here are some English words you will need if you ever go to the gym in an English speaking country.
Reps — повторения
The amount of times you do an exercise in one set.
Sets — подходы
The amount of times you do a particular exercise.
Protein — протеин
What gives you energy and fuels your muscles. They satiate your appetite so you don’t eat too much.
Endorphins — эндорфины
What you feel in your body and mind when exercising. They make you feel good and accomplished after a great workout.
Carbs — углеводы
They give you energy and help replenish your muscles when exercising.
Fats — жиры
Fats also give you energy and allow you to feel full.
Weight — вес
This word has two meaning when working out. It can mean how much you weight (for example, I weigh 87 kilograms), or it can refer to the amount of weight you are exercising with (for example, I can bench press 100 kilograms).
