I suppose that some students ask themselves this question — why should I do my homework? They come to my classes, we discuss topics, listen, learn, and spend time with the English language, why is it necessary to do homework too?
Are teachers who give homework cruel? Well, my students know I am not a cruel person. Homework for me is a chance to strengthen what we learnt in class. A chance to prove to yourself that you understand the grammar, and to repeat some vocabulary.
The more time we spend with the new words or structures, the easier it will be to remember it. Just seeing it once is not enough. Homework is a chance to repeat the things you learnt in a slightly different way, a chance to think alone and remind yourself of what we did in class.
It has been my experience that those who do homework make better progress. My advice is, to spend some extra time to do your homework and don’t neglect it; it will benefit you in some future situation.
